How to Beat Level 1 of Choo-Choo Charles Revenge: Objectives, Ammo and Keys
Published · 3 min read
Level 1 of Choo-Choo Charles Revenge is short, but it is easy to lose in a dumb way: out of ammo in the open, mouse stuck at the frame edge, or wandering the tree line with no idea where the eggs are. This is what we learned running it in a browser on this site.
Before you press Start Game
The build is about 90 MB, so the first load takes a while; the loading bar under Charles is real progress, not a hang. While it loads, click the player's fullscreen button. A first-person game inside a web page only locks the mouse inside the game frame, and in a small frame you will keep hitting the edge mid-turn. Fullscreen fixes that. Then turn the volume slider on the title screen down a notch; the scare sounds are loud.
Read the card, then look up
Start Game shows the story card: find three eggs, destroy the portal, survive. Press Next, pick Level 1 (the other five are locked behind it), and once you are in, hold Tab. The objective line tells you what is next. Then look at the sky: an orange marker hangs over the current goal. Walk toward it rather than exploring; the island is bigger than it needs to be and Charles is faster than you.
Ammo is the level's real timer
You spawn with a rifle, 30 rounds loaded and 90 in reserve, and the reserve does not refill by itself. That is 120 shots for the whole level. Two habits keep you in the fight: hold the right mouse button to aim before you shoot a cultist, because hip fire at range wastes half a magazine; and press R after every fight instead of during the next one. When cultists bunch up, throw a molotov with G. One bottle does what a magazine would.
Moving around Charles
Left Shift runs. Use it to break line of sight, not to cross open ground while Charles is looking at you. Once he loses you, Left Ctrl crouches and X goes prone behind rocks; a smaller target survives longer and the pause gives you time to reload. Space gets you over low rocks and rails. The mouse wheel swaps weapons if you pick up a second one, and F is the interact key for eggs, switches and the portal itself.
The eggs and the portal
Each egg sits where cultists are, so treat the orange marker as a warning as much as a signpost. Clear the group from range, walk in, press F on the egg, and hold Tab again to confirm the counter moved. After the third egg the marker jumps to the portal; interact with it to destroy it and the level ends. If a fight goes wrong at low health, Escape opens the pause menu with Restart. Restarting costs a minute; dying with 10 HP halfway to the portal costs the whole run.
If the game will not start
A black frame after the loading bar fills usually means the tab ran out of memory on a low-end Chromebook. Close other tabs, reload once, and let it finish loading before clicking anything. If the mouse will not lock, click the game once and go fullscreen. And if nothing helps, tell us through the contact page with your browser name; the build is self-hosted here, so we can actually fix it.
