Choo-Choo Charles Revenge vs the Real Choo-Choo Charles: What Is Actually in the Browser Version

Published · 2 min read

People land on this site expecting the Choo-Choo Charles they saw on YouTube: the open island, the little steam engine with a machine gun bolted to the roof, the scrap runs, Charles crashing out of the trees. That game exists, it is by Two Star Games, it came out on Steam in December 2022, and it costs money. What we host here is Choo-Choo Charles Revenge, a free fan-made Unity WebGL game by Kiz10, and it is worth being clear about how the two differ so nobody feels short-changed.

What is the same

The premise is lifted straight from the original. Charles is a demon-possessed locomotive with a white grinning face and spider legs, he lives on an island, and a cult keeps him fed. The fan game's story card says it in one breath: investigate, fight Charles and his cultists, find three eggs, destroy the portal, survive. The three eggs are the clearest borrow; in the Steam game you also collect three eggs from cult-held areas before the final showdown. The look is close too: red engine, yellow headlamp, the same rictus grin on the title screen.

What is different

Everything you do with your hands. The real game is played from a train: you drive, you swap between the mounted gun, flamethrower and rocket launcher, and you get off the train only to run errands on foot. The fan game is a first-person shooter on foot from the first second. You get a rifle with a 30-round magazine and 90 in reserve, a molotov on G, aim-down-sights on the right mouse button, run, crouch and prone. There is no train to drive, no scrap economy and no upgrade tree. Instead there are six levels on a select screen, unlocked one at a time.

The scale is smaller as well. The Steam island is a single open map with dozens of side quests; the fan game gives you an open area per level with an orange marker in the sky pointing at the next objective. It is closer to an arcade mission than a survival-horror campaign, and a level is over in minutes once you know where the eggs are.

What that means for you

If you want the real thing, buy it on Steam; it is not expensive and it is a genuinely good three-hour scare. If you are on a school Chromebook at lunch and want to shoot cultists and get chased by a spider train for ten minutes, the fan game does that and does it free. The build is served from this domain, so it loads without the portal ad break that the same game shows elsewhere, and it keeps working if the original host disappears.

One more honesty note: the character models, the name and the design of Charles belong to Two Star Games. This site is not affiliated with them or with Kiz10. We host the fan game because it is the only browser-playable version that actually renders, and we say what it is on every page.
